24 Novels: Winning the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction
Percival Everett persistently wrote novels for 40+ years, and it paid off.
{August 2025}
The 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction was awarded to Percival Everett for his novel, James (2024). This work is a reconsideration of Mark Twain's "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" told from the perspective of the character Jim. Both poignant and satirical, it illustrates the power of language and injustices of racist social constructs.
As Everett's 24th published novel, its accolades reflect a long-term persistence in his writing career. With each prolific decade, he received more literary recognition.

For this project, I wanted to design an alternative timeline format with a spiral shape to symbolize the "winding road" of a writer's career. I created the visualization in Adobe Illustrator, and I used Observable Framework to embed it with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for interactivity.
